upper case again

Hi,
I've also got a problem with titles. Foe example, he gave the ring to cardinal Andrew. Shouldnnal be it be Cardinal Andrew?

Hi,

Thanks very much for your responses. I had consulted several dictionaries before writing to the forum. I would have capitalized it as a matter of course, but the person whose work I am proofing really argued with me about it, in spite of the dictionaries. I just thought I'd check.

Remind your writer that titles are not capitalized in running text unless they come immediately before the person's name. Perhaps he or she had been chastised in the past for making them capitalized when they should not have been and is now over correcting.

Elizabeth is the queen. Queen Elizabeth is the current monarch.

She's proud that her nephew is a cardinal. Her nephew is Car
