upgrading plan

I subscribed a cell phone plan three months ago. And now I would like to increase my minutes by upgrading my plan. However, I'm worried that it will ____ (extend) the expiration of the contract by doing so.

1. Please correct the above for naturalness.
2. What is a good verb for the above?

Thanks.

You 'subscribe to' a plan, so the first sentence should read:

I subscribed to a cell phone plan three months ago.

I think 'extend', 'delay', 'lengthen', 'postpone', 'push back' or 'prolong', would all work for your verb in the 3rd sentence.

Thanks, Optilang. I think I'm starting to see the difference. If you don't mind, could you do the same for the following

____(verb) the contract.

the contract - extend, lengthen, prolong.

Of course you can delay, postpone, push back (the signing of) a contract but this is in a different context to your original post.

I think I see it now. I need to get used to it.
