updated/latest/renewed

To make the machine run faster, the engineer replaced the original computer system with an updated one.

Is "updated" in the above interchangeable with "latest" and "renewed?" Thanks.

Let's say there are three versions: 1, 2, and 3. The machine had been running #1. If the engineer puts in #2, it's an updated version.

If the engineer puts in #2, it's an updated version. Only #3 is the latest version. (It's also updated.)

Renewed is not a great choice.

updated - You normally update the existing system, ie leave it in place and just apply the updates.
latest - There is only one 'latest', so you'd have to say 'the latest one'
