Update on "My wife just hit someobdy with the car"

My previous remarks about this were:
"My wife just hit someobdy with the car and broke his ankle, so I've got to go to the hospital with them. She's a bit hysterical and I should drive."
It could have been worse. It turned out to be a broken femur and not a broken ankle. Chinese speakers use the word "jiao" ("leg") for the entire leg, including the ankle and foot, as well as for each separate part of the leg despite the existence of five other words for foot, ankle, lower leg, knee, and thigh. Drives me crazy when my son starts talking about how his "jiao-jiao" (Chinese babytalk doubles certain words; it's not like English babytalk, the kind that makes me want to puke when I hear people say things like "How's my widdle wuvvy-duvvy babykins?" etc) hurts. I never know whether he means his knee or his ankle or his calf muscle or his hamstring.

She ran into two guys, a father and his junior-high-school-aged son. The father had only a few scrapes and bruises, and the son had the broken thigh bone.
They turned out to be relatives: my wife's younger sister's ex- husband's uncle and cousin. The uncle is the brother of the man who owns the Suzuki motorcycle shop. When we first came to live in Taiwan
8 years ago, the latter guy gave me a 12-year-old 90-cc motorcycle.Three months ago I finally paid him back by buying a new Suzuki 125 cc. That was stolen last month, alas. But I digress.

Instead of calling the police and waiting for an ambulance to transport the injured kid, the father and my wife put the boy on the rear seat of her car and decided to drive him to the emergency room of one of the big hospitals about 18 km and 24 km away. I have 100 clients and half a dozen close doctor friends at the farther one; one of them is an orthopedic surgeon. But the kid was in such pain as I was driving over the less than skating-rink level roads, that we took him to the closer one, where I know no one. A wise choice.

The break was quite obvious, but, fortunately, while the two sections of the femur were significantly dislocated, the bone did not break the skin, and there seems to have been no internal bleeding. He needs surgery, though. There are undoubtedly some bone chips around the break.
My wife is now at the police station explaining why she didn't call the police. It's 1:40 a.m. Taiwan time.
