Up and down

At the level of ultimate truth, there’s no separation between self and other. As subject and object are one, as up and down are part of the same dimension, as life and death are part of the same process, so self and other can’t be teased apart.

The underlined part seems an inverted sentence. Does 'up and down' mean going through many things?

And one more thing, does 'teased apart' mean seperated?

Thanks in advance

You are most welcome.

Dealing with subjective-interpretive concepts can sometimes be difficult.

Hopefully, I explained it properly
