Hi,

Suppose a person makes a certain comment. Can we then say: with that comment, he sat down. (with that comment meaning after making that comment). Also: So commenting/having so commented, he sat down. (is this fine?).

Are there other ways?

These are all OK. These patterns are mostly used in written English. "So commenting..." is probably the least common.
