Hi

Are the red sentences synonymous and equally natural?

B - I am free until 8. Then I have a class.

A - By what time are you free?

B - I am free until 8. Then I have a class.

A - Until when are you free?

Only the first is (barely) acceptable.

A is aware that B will be busy later on.

Native speakers will ask:

  • When are you available ... e.g. to discuss this/ to have a conversation / to...) ?
  • How long will you be available to ...?
  • Are you available the whole day today?
  • When is a good time to talk about the project? We will need about an hour.
