I have a question about the idiom "until kingdom come". does it have a negative connotation, or can it also be positive? For example, if one would express his desire for something to go on until kingdom come, would it make sense or sound rather strange?

It's normally negative. We could talk about this until kingdom come, but it wouldn't change anything. I would think it would sound strange to hear it used for a positive statement.
