UNTIL + affimative or negative in past?

Hi all

I have a doubt regarding whether to use the affirmative or the negative for the following structures with until/till as these would be built up in negative in my mother language Spanish:

’t go to University until he had done/had not done the military service

’t write the book until he had done/had not done five years of research

Thanks in advance

Use the affirmative. University need not be capitalised. I would prefer his military service.
