Until

I have a question about "until" .

"That latest movie won't be released until Friday."

Q: When will the movie take place?

A: It's on Friday.

In this case, I think "until" includes Friday,

so the movie will be released on Sat.

But the answer is different. I can't understand it.

Could you teach me about this?

The movie will be released on Friday. The movie won't be released before Friday. You're right.

  • The movie will be released on Friday.
  • The movie won't be released before Friday.
  • You're right.
  • It's hard to explain.
  • If I say, "The movie won't be released until tomorrow," it's easier to accept.

The movie won't be released before Friday.

You're right. It's hard to explain. If I say, "The movie won't be released until tomorrow," it's easier to accept.

If you say "The movie is blacked out in this area until Friday," it gets even worse. But the movie will not be blacked out on Friday.
