Until

The notice on a restaurant window says:
"We'll be closed until Thursday."

Is the restaurant open on Thursday or still closed?

A commercial says:
"Buy now! You don't pay until 2006."

Does this mean the payment has to be made starting Jan. 1, 2006 or 2007?
If the answer here is Jan. 1, 2006, what about this?
"I'm going to stay here until tomorrow."
Does this guy have to pack and leave before midnight tonight?

Top answer

The restaurant re-opens Thursday. The first payment will be due sometime in 2006. The fellow is leaving sometime tomorrow, probably at a more reasonable hour than 00:01.
