unshirkable duty

Please help me correct the following paragraqph.

Suppose today is the first day of the profession of public service, I’d like to ask myself some questions. What are my goals? What expectations do I have for my career? What is the greatest concern in my duty?” No doubt my top concern as a councillor is the welfare of the general public. Giving service to the residents of the hometown is my unshirkable duty;therefore, to appeal for the people is my duty-bound calling.
