unrequited love?

Hi,I am just wondering if someone could define "unrequited love".Could it mean "one side" love? I am referring to the "Love" that you have towards someone else like a woman like hiding your feelings, looking at her only behind her, something like that.I believe the real definition of such a love is like parents giving their children love.Thanks in advance.

Unrequited Love--is when you give your heart freely, but it is unwanted.

Unrequited Love--is when your professed or pro-offered love is untaken.

Unrequited Love--is when you hopelessly devote your full attention on that special someone and it goes unnoticed.

Unrequited Love --is when you feel as if you will die without that special someone, yet that special someone would not even move a muscle or blink an eye if you were to die.

Parent's love towards children is "selfless love", where you don't ask anything in return.

to requite is to return something, so unrequited loves happens when you love some one and they don't love you back
