Unrendered

What do you think of the phrase "an unrendered service"? (as in "They continually thank me for unrendered services" supposed to mean "Although I haven't done anything for them they keep thanking me.")

The word "unrendered" isn't in the dictionary I looked at, and the phrase "unrendered service" only gets 1 google hit.

People charge fees for services rendered, so being thanked for unrendered services sounds not strange to me.

Not an Oy!, exactly, but "perform very well those services" just doesn't work. The adverbial "very well" has to come in final position: "doesn't perform those services very well".

Now, I know this because I'm a native speaker, but I'm not really satis

[nq:1]What I didn't understand from OP's example is why should one thank for unrendered services.[/nq]
Because they think it's polite to say meaningless "thank you"s even when there's really nothing specific to be thanking them for. That's maybe not why people "should" do it, but why they might.
