Unreal Past Situation??
Hello,
If an archaeologist tells about some ancient people from his findings, "Certainly they would have suffered from this.",
is this an unreal past situation, which is an imaginary situation or a situation that might have happened in the past, but didn't? Or did the speaker just make a guess about the past? Thanks!
