Unreal Condition?

I saw someone write “If you realized how powerful your thoughts were, you would never think a negative thought again.”

My question is why they use unreal condition because it doesn't make sense to me, and can I change it to “If you realize how powerful your thoughts are, you will never think a negative thought again.” or “If you had realized how powerful your thought are, you would not have had negative thoughts.”?
