unreal “as if” about the future

Hello!

If I wish to express a situation which might occur in future, but which is absolutely unreal, which construct should I use?

“He speaks as if he would be a president next year. (But he won’t be a president definitely.)”

Or

“He speaks as if he were a president next year. (But he won’t be a president definitely.)”

Thank you!
