Unperceive

The definion of the word "perceive" is "to become aware of through the senses"

But is there a word "unperceive"?
Can you, for example, say "there was a cat on the table but I unperceived it" meaning that I didn't see/notice the cat?

NO, you can't. But you couldn't do this with words like notice either You cannot "unnotice" something.

You can "overlook" something.

"I was supposed to have a meeting with Mark this morning, but I overlooked the note on my calendar."

"I swear, I checked the file six times for that invoice and couldn't find it, but it was there all the time. I guess I just overlooked it."

People use "miss" in the same way: "Did you see the story about Helen in the paper last week?"

Hi,

If you want to use an adjective, 'imperceptible' can describe something that cannot be perceived. eg

He gave an imperceptible smile.

This week, our progress at work was imperceptible.

*** is imperceptible.
