Unpaid Leave letter for HR to approve

Hi, below is the letter i have written to get my two weeks leave approval. Can you please correct the english for me and also let me know if it is too short or not enough detailed? this is my first time writing a letter like this and am quite confused.

Dear [name: HR representative],

With due respect, I hereby apply for two weeks (10 working days) of unpaid leave from February 16th through February 27th. This is to permit me to travel to India for pressing personal matters.



I’ve already discussed with [name: Department Director] and she has allowed me to take the leave. Please let me know if this is alright. I would like to apply via e-leave within this week.

e-Leave is a system that I have to apply via, once HR approves the leave, I need to attach the approved letter when I apply on the system

Dear Mannu Firstly, phrases like "with due respect" should only be used when necessary. If your boss loves over-formality then certainly do that. Secondly, the word "hereby" is more suitable for legal documents.

Yup, they HR guy is a freak .. he writes overly formal letters .. lol

but I agree, hereby was an extreme on my side.

Forgive the grammar and language on this post. Just wanted to Thank You for the reply.

I've sent him the mail, hopefully the leave would be approved. fingers crossed
