Unnecessary If?

Observe the statements below:

"There are also a couple of other reasons of why..."

and

"There are also a couple of other reasons why..."

Which one should be used, and which one makes more sense? Or can they both be used, but only one of the two would make more sense (depending on the situation of the sentence)?

" Use the one above. "Of" in connection with "reason" looks rather odd but I'm not saying it couldn't be right in some contexts. "For" is the normal preposition with "reason".

This is OK:

"There are also a couple of other reasons why Johnny is failing school."

When you post, please give complete sentences, not fragments. The phrase you are asking about might fit in the particular sentence you have in mind, but not in the ones we think of.

Reason why is redundant. I recommend avoiding it.

There are also a couple of other reasons he is absent.
There are also a couple of other reasons that he is absent.
There are also a couple of other reasons for his absence.

Maybe so, but native speakers use "reason why" all the time.

Native speakers say (and write) a lot of things:

reason why is because
anyways
irregardless
between you and I
If I would've done something (or even worse would of)

Does that mean we should pass them on to learners?
