Grammar

Unlikely / likely

Is it possible to use both of it as an adverb.
Like:

It is unlikely possible
it is likely possible

But normally I find people express like this:
It is unlikely to be possible.

So it is not possible to use them as an adverb in any way? Thanks

The word "possible" already conveys a meaning related to likelihood, so to me it seems unnecessary, even wrong, to further qualify it with "likely" and "unlikely". For the examples, I will therefore use the word "correct" instead. These are all grammatical: It is likely to be correct.

  • (less common) It is unlikely to be correct.
