unless - in case sentences

Help asap. I've got 2 questions. Thanks.
1-John noticed my tel. number on a paper unless he should forget it.
(Is this sentence correct? grammatically and in meaning?)

2-Mary noticed my tel. number in case she should forget it.
(Is it more common in American English to say it without using 'should'.So: Mary noticed my number in case she forgot it.)

Top answer

Neither of those is right (the first one is "more wrong"). It may be that you mean this: Mary made a note of my telephone number so (that) she would not forget it.
