unless I miss my guess?

Is this gramaticly correct statement? I have never heard of this before, but at work it appeared in one of our reports, i reported it as wrong, but others claim its right.
The sentance said something like "Unless I miss my guess this elevator leads to the executive offices"
It sounds wrong, how can you miss a guess? you can guess wrong or incorectly. You can miss a buss or a train or a person.

"Unless I miss my guess" is an idiomatic way of saying "I believe [whatever follows] to be true" or "Unless I'm wrong."

It's quite common, but it seems an odd choice for a business report.

I would include a comma after the word "guess."
