Can you use the following structures?

You can't experience true hip-hop atmosphere unless you go to a rap battle.
You can't experience true hip-hop unless going to a rap battle.

That´s what I´m trying to find out, too... unless going to a rap battle" doesn´t sound wrong, but I can´t find any proof of it being correct!

"...unless going to a rap battle" doesn´t sound wrong, but I can´t find any proof of it being correct!

For me, it doesn't sound wrong either.
I am second examiner for the same paper. :-) My colleagues didn't accept "unless going".
