University College Utrecht motivation letter

Hi Emotion: smile
I'm trying to write my motivation letter for my university application, but I'm kind of lost. I had to answer the following questions and I have a word limit of 500 words:
On the basis of your academic strengths and interests, why do you want to study at a Liberal Arts and Sciences college?
On the basis of your personal experiences and ambitions, why do you want to be a student at a residential college?

Could anyone tell me whether I'm going in the right direction with what i have now?
Thank you very much Emotion: smile

Dear Sir/Madam,
My name is Annemieke Drost and with this letter I would like to apply for the Bachelor program in Liberal Arts and Sciences at University College Utrecht. In spring 2015 I will do my VWO exams at Gerit Rietveld College.
I would like to study at University College Utrecht for multiple reasons. The first being the interdisciplinary character of UCU. I am interested in multiple fields of study, such as history, biology, literature, politics and sustainability. The Liberal Arts and Sciences programme gives me an opportunity to combine my interests instead of focussing on just one.
Furthermore, I would really I would love to be part of a community where it is normal to work hard and aspire to do well in your academic work. I am proud to be a nerd and it would be nice to be surrounded by likeminded people. I am curious and eager gain new knowledge. In 5 and 6 VWO I chose a combination of subjects, history with chemistry and physics, which did not fit in my schedule. Because I was the only one with those two subjects my schedule contained, and still contains, several double hours every week. This pushed me to be more independent. I now follow some chemistry and physics classes in the two parallel groups to make sure I do not miss important notes or I ask one of my classmates to record the lesson for me. It taught me that I am responsible for my onw
One of the things that shaped me the most during my school career has been my participation in the student council. In May 2011 I became a member of my school’s student council. Two of my friends already were part of the council and it peaked my interest. In May 2012 I became one of the student council representatives in the school’s participation council. In March 2012 one of my friends and I were elected presidents of the student council. I quit my activities in the student council and participation council in May 2014. During those three years I learned how to prepare and lead meetings but also how to participate in meetings. Back in 2011 I was afraid to speak up, but in 2014 I would not hesitate to speak up during the participation council meetings and I loved leading the discussions during the student council meetings.
As I mentioned before, I would to love to be part of a community where it is normal to work hard. This also is one of the reasons I would like to be a student at a residential college. I think that being part of an enthusiastic and ambitious community would encourage me to participate in, excel and make the most of my bachelor degree.
I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours faithfully,

Annemieke Drost
