Univeristy or the university

Hello,

Is this sentence correct?

I have got a grant from university.

Or maybe I should say:

I have got a grant from the university.

If both are correct, could you tell me the difference? Thank you!

Would I also need an article if I am a student and I am studing at this university? I am wondering bacause I know that if university serves its primary purpose (it is an institution that provides education to students), articles are not used like in: 'I'm studying at university'.
