Unintuitive wiring

0 I have a phone line splitter with two jacks and one plug. One jack is connected to the phone line, one to a DSL modem and the plug goes into a DSL filter into a phone.02br

00Of course, there is no electrical difference between a plug and a jack but it seems odd that the outside connection uses a jack and one of the connectees uses a jack and the other a plug. It is as you had a power splitter and you pluggred in a connection to the power source, plugged in one appliance and plugged it into another appliance.02br

00(That would be dangerous since there would be high voltage on a plug.)02br

00Cam anyone think of a word or phrase for this kind of slight weirdness?0-
