'He landed breathless in front of CS, an ungainly-looking man with wild tufts of rust-colored hair sticking out from under a conical steel cap'
Does 'ungainly-looking' simply mean 'ugly'? Or 'loser looking'? I was thinking the opposite of 'gain' is 'lose', so 'ungain' could be 'lose', which is how I concluded. Thanks-Terr
