Unexpected rain?

While I was walking, Unexpectedly rain started. In order to avoid getting wet I just went into a nearby shop for a while. This is the situation and I'm looking for phrase I can use and has the following meaning..like seek a shelter for a while or till the rain let up etc

First of all, it would be more natural if you rephrased the sentence like this:

While I was walking, it started raining unexpectedly. In order to avoid getting wet, I just went into a shop for a while.

... I took shelter in shop.

There's no real need for 'for a while' unless the storm lasted for a long time and you abandoned your shop before the storm had ended.
