0Maybe it would be possible if one has lived abroad for many years: one person has to know even the history and the current political situation in order to understand everything; in fact knowing all the English words doesn't help in understanding the context in which they are used. I'm referring above all to comic shows on TV: I usually watch some cartoons from the US and very often I don't get
0I think it would be very hard to achiev that level, for the reasons cited by Francesca. You have to know the political, social, and cultural aspects of the place in order to really understand its language as a native. Even Americans watching British comedies don't understand all the humor because they refer to things that we are not immersed in. Heck, even someone over forty doesn't understand
