Understanding how to write.

Question

I love English and writing. I do not understand how I can write anything without understanding the basic structure (nouns verbs and etc) yet I am understood. It just seems I understand the basic sentence structure better then the nous verbs etc. How is that possible? pljames

Normal children when they are between 2 and 3 start learning the language that their parents speak. Three-year-olds can speak many words and form simple sentences. By the time they are 6 years old, children have a complete set of language skills. But do you think that they know nouns and verbs, or the grammatical structures of their language?

They learn to read and write in school when they are 7 years old, and sometimes much younger. But they do not know about grammar. Perhaps they never study grammar in school, but they still can write a letter, a book report, or a story.

So it is entirely logical that you are fluent in a language without knowing its grammar.

Is that totally possible? I have read as long as I can remember. Where would that put me as a reader? I love to write and share it with others because I to learn from them. I am beside myself from your e-mail. My pride is overcomming me. Thank you. You have made my life worthwhile.  pljames

If you read a lot, and like to read, writing should get easier. You just have to practice.
