understanding english

hi!

i don't really want to talk for hours, so i come to the point:
i just passed my a-levels (successfully i hope Emotion: wink) and i wanted to ask if you know (free) internet sites improving my english skills...
i wanna get the campridge certificate or how it's called and i also want to do a year abroad...
but my problem is: if i am looking a tv show (btw, my motherlanguage is german), i don't really understand much, especially if there are ironical phrases...

i hope you understand i wanted to tell ya Emotion: wink and thanks to your advices and hope i didn't do lots of errors Emotion: wink
