Understanding

What an understanding stupid girl.

Is this sentence correct?

Top answer

I don't think the positive adjective understanding goes well with the negative adjective stupid. It doesn't make much sense to me. I got two unrelated and somewhat conflicting images of the girl 1) she is an understanding person.

What an understanding but stupid girl.

"What an understanding but stupid girl!"

The sentence is fine but I think words like silly or foolish (words that are not as strong as stupid) are more suitable.

Of course, that is only my personal opinion. (I personally think that someone who is understanding won't be too stupid)
