Understand the terms

Much of what's recorded is the stuff of myth and legend more than biography or history

as we understand the terms.

Does 'as we understand the terms' mean as as far as we know?

Top answer

No, I don't believe so. I would say that 'as we understand the terms' refers to the strict definition of 'biography' and 'history'. Much of what's recorded would fall into the categories of myth and legend rather than into the categories of biography or history (as we understand the definition of these last two terms).
