Understand sentences..

I asked:"How's your grippe, sir?" He answered:"If I felt any better I'd have to send for the doctor." I don't understand what he meant?

He said:"I had the privilege of meeting your mother and dad when they had their little chat with Dr.Thurmer some weeks ago." What does 'privilege' mean here? I don't think it means 'a special right' here.

You could see he really felt pretty lousy about flunking me. So I shot the bull for a while. I told him I was a real moron, and all that stuff. I don't know what 'shot the bull' means here?

Thanks for help!

— Presumably "grippe" means "flu", here. It sounds like a little joke: either

a) even if I felt better, I'd still be ill enough to need a doctor; or

b) I feel I'm ill enough to die (i.e. there's no point in send
