understand all the articles/causes/items/rules

Before signing this contract, make sure you have read and understand all the articles/causes/items/rules.

Are all of the bolded words suited to the above sample and identical in meaning? Thanks.

Issues or items are probably best for such context. Not causes . Perhaps clauses.

Yes, I think you're right about "clauses." It's a typo of mine.

By the way, the original uses "articles." Don't you think it fits best?

Hi,

'Articles' is OK, but I feel the word collocates more with the term 'agreement' than with the term 'contract'.

However, I'm not a lawyer.
