Underneath the clock?

Hi. Please help. Let's say there is a notice posted under a classroom clock and can we say this about the position of the notice?

"It is posted underneath the clock."
Or
"It is underneath the clock."

Yes. Either one would work. However, note that "under" is just as good as "underneath". "underneath" can even suggest something a little different. Suppose that there is an abandoned clock lying on the ground. You can say, "There is something very valuable buried underneath that clock".
