I have lived in Japan since 1990.
The period is not underlined because only two words are underlined for emphasis.

Boy, they have rules for everything! The reason I don't underline the period is because if I do, the next thing I type (on EF) will be underlined, and I can't get rid of it. I must always stop one character short.

The reason Idon't underline the period is because if I do, the next thing I type (on EF) will be underlined, and I can't get rid of it. I must always stop one character short.
