Under the aegis of / under the auspices of

Hello there,
I've recently came across these two terms which both mean something along the lines of being officially supported by an organisation. What I want to ask though is are these two terms interchangeable?
I.e. Are these sentences the same?
The organisation has been running under the auspices of the Foreign Ministry Office since 2009.

Thanks for your help Emotion: smile
