Under contract

Hello,

Could you, please, tell me if my sentence sounds natural and whether I didn't confused some words?

"I work under contract but I'm looking for a permanent position"

Should it be "under" contract or "on" contract? Is "a permanent position" a good word choice in this sentence?

Thank you

- - 'On' may be slightly more common, but both are fine. " Is "a permanent position" a good word choice in this sentence? -- Yes, or 'permanent full-time'.

Thank you, Mister Micawber. I've got one more thing to ask about: what question should be formed to give an answer:
"I'm a contract worker" ?

Can I say: "What kind of work arrangement do you have/What's your work arrangement?"

Thank you
