Ozzurti, your answer describes very well what I meant, that they are the center of attention, everybody wants to learn about their lives, even details of their daily lives.
Mister Micawber, can one use an expression "under scrutiny" in this case? I though it's more about official documents to study. I'll keep this expression in mind.
