Under a law or policy

Is this sentence correct? Would you completely rephrase the sentence? Would you use "under" in "under British law"? Would you say "is under British law" or would you use a different verb like "governed under British law"?
Since I worked for an international firm that isn't under British law, I can't get unemployment benefits if ever I am let go.

Which is correct? Is “under a policy natural?

You are lucky to hold your son while 1500 mothers cannot, because your father ripped their children away under/because of/due to a vicious policy that he created.
