Undecided about using the proper word

1) The boy create/creates all sorts of excuses to his mother for not doing his homework.

2) Do or does single mothers create/creates an environment in the home condusive to generating incomes?

In the first sentence what should be choice of word whether its create or creates while in the second it should be do or does or create or creates. Looking for a solution in the dictionary has been rather difficult for me. Where am I weak at as far as these sentences show. What are the suggestions. Thanks.
