UK vs US English

We know about the O replacing OU, as in honour, but it goes much farther (sic). In US English practise does not exist as a separate verb - it's practice for both noun and verb. Similarly for defense (only), licence. 2 Ls and 2 Ts are not used in US English. The problem is automatic self-check brings out US English and now I am confused.
