I've checked their meanings in the dictionary you've taught me.Their meanings are perfectly different in dictionaries.

But sometimes when I saw those in sentences, I couldn't perfectly distinguish the difference. Please look at the upcoming sentence = Please look at the next sentence( are they same?)

Can I sometimes replace "next" with "upcoming" according to the context? Thank

Please look at the upcoming sentence = Please look at the next sentence( are they same?) The first sentence would be essentially never said.

Can I sometimes replace "next" with "upcoming" according to the context? essentially no The meanings and uses are different.
The main thing to remember is that there can only be one "next" of so

Also, an 'upcoming' something is seen as approaching. The 'next' thing (the visit of a particular comet to the solar system, for example) may be many years in the future
