Vocabulary

"tyranny of assumptions", "avoid doxa the realm of the unquestioned",

Hello
I ran into these phrases while watching a speech, and couldn't figure out their meaning as well as the idea of the whole sentence. Please could you help?
Here is the context: " A public, Dewey long ago observed, is constituted through discussion and debate. If we are to call the tyranny of assumptions into question, and avoid doxa, the realm of the unquestioned, then we must be willing to subject our own assumptions to debate and discussion."
Thanks so much

Hi Clive

Thanks so much for your explanation!!!

Tyranny of assumptions is public assumptions that no one is allowed to question, that really makes senses. And your explanation about underlying meaning of the sentence helps me a lot.

I'm still a bit confused about the "avoid doxa, the realm of the unquestioned" part. As I looked it up online,
