Typical of or Typical for?

Hello.I've been searching for many websites to know the difference between typical of and typical for and most of them said they are interchangable. Do you have other opinions?

Purely in terms of numbers, "typical of" is used much more often than "typical for".

The form with "for", it seems to me, would be used when the "for" belongs to a "for ... to ..." clause, e.g.,

It is typical for this species to hibernate in the winter.
