Vocabulary

typical and distinctive

Hi all, I have a question about the meaning of "typical" and "distinctive". Do they mean the same? I looked up in the dictionary, they mean the same, but I'm confused since I think "typical" means something that usually happens, common, predictable while "distinctive" means different from the others. Am I right? Can someone explain more?

Thanks a lot.
