Type of usage.


He lived a crime-free life and continued to do good, until his demise, later a victim of a cold-blooded assassination.


Is this usage of later just newspaper style. Or does later start a dependent clause. Later doesn't sound grammatical. You need something like subsequently, right.

It is not a clause at all. A clause has a subject-verb relationship with agreement. I would delete "later" and not replace it at all.

It is not a clause at all. A clause has a subject-verb relationship with agreement. I would delete "later" and not replace it at all. "Good" should be "well."
