Type of this sentence ?

Which type of sentences this one belong to?

Having been an educator for 4 years, I have learned a lot from more experienced teachers in my district.

I suppose this is a complex sentence with an independent clause and a dependent clause. But is "Having been an educator for 4 years" itself a sentence? Because it doesn't have any noun. Can anyone explain this to me?

I have seen a lot of sentences that begin with a V-ing or have a V-ing after a comma, like these:

I chose to be happy, knowing that apprehensions were unnecessary.

Knowing that apprehensions were unnecessary, I chose to be happy.

I really need someone to explain me in detail about the structure of those sentences.
